Hi, are there plans to allow simple formatting in Secure Notes in 1Password 7 to allow for bold, italic, underline and different fonts and sizes?

I always hoped for this in version 4 but it never happened so hopefully version 7 will support it.

Thanks

    Hi @reck,

    Thanks for writing in.

Yes, in fact 1Password 7 for macOS is the first to gain this feature as announced here in our blog post here.

We want to bring this to 1Password 7 for Windows too but we don't have a timeframe and it may not be in the first 7.0 release but it will come.

That's exactly what i'm talking about Mike, looks good.

I was hoping with version 7 we'd finally see the day where the Windows client catches up with the Mac client after so many years of being the poor relative and us PC's users looking over at 1Password for Mac with envious eyes.

Do you think version 7 will finally be the version where we get feature parity between PC\Mac?

    Hi @reck,

The shortest answer is it is our goal, yes. There are a lot of internal projects and communications going between all of our platform teams with the focus on cross-platform support, far more than 2-3 years ago. A lot of this is due to our 1Password.com service which mandates cross-platform consistency as one of the key features but it is easier said than done and it will take some time.

1Password 7 Beta 1 is already the most consistent Windows version compared to 1Password 7 for macOS in terms of experience and UI but in terms of feature parity, it's still behind. The main reason is that the macOS version didn't have to be rebuilt from the ground up, it's still using a solid mature several years old codebase that can be adapted over the years. We've started from scratch with 1Password 6 a year ago and 1Password 7 is an update to 1Password 6 with the addition of standalone vault support. It will still take us some time to match the feature parity but we're getting there in every update.

The next beta update, it already has enough UI improvements that it is starting to be difficult to tell the apps apart. You'll see when it is released soon. Feature parity isn't all about the UI though and we still have a lot of work to do for 1Password 7 on Windows but it will take some time.
