For users have both Apple and MS devices, it it better to use CloudKit for Apple devices, and Dropbox or iCloud Drive for Windows devices.
The iOS version have already support both CloudKit and Dropbox with manual coping function between.

I hope the Mac version can support 2 local sync options in a mirror mode to copy new items from one to the other, and can detect conflict, like modifications and deletions, between the two vaults. A conflict merging GUI will be useful in the later situation.

I think this will be perfect for users that focused on Mac but still use Windows occasionally.

    Welcome to the forum, @Galaxy001!

For users have both Apple and MS devices, it it better to use CloudKit for Apple devices, and Dropbox or iCloud Drive for Windows devices.

If you do that, 1Password will NOT be in sync across your devices. You must use the same method of sync on every device, which means, in the case of users with both PCs and Macs, that iCloud will not be an option. The sync 1Password uses for iCloud is indeed CloudKit, which is not available on Windows. Syncing 1Password for Mac with iCloud and 1Password for Windows with Dropbox will not mean the devices are in sync with each other, because there is no communication between Dropbox and iCloud. This would result in two entirely separate sets of data -- even if the user attempted to make them the same.

If you're using 1Password in standalone mode across both PCs and Macs, your only option to keep all devices in sync is Dropbox. There's no particular security benefit to using iCloud sync in 1Password for Mac just because it's an Apple technology, and Dropbox is the only one of our 3rd-party sync solutions that works across all platforms.

However, the best option of all is a 1password.com membership. Instead of having to maintain, install and upgrade multiple licenses on multiple platforms, a 1password.com membership means you have access to all four of our native 1Password applications (Mac, iOS, Windows and Android), including all future upgrades, so no matter your configuration of devices now or in the future, you'll always have 1Password available. Best of all, sync issues like the one you're describing are a thing of the past - just sign into your 1password.com account in the 1Password app on all your devices, and the custom-built 1password.com sync engine takes care of the rest, with no more effort on your part. It's by far the most powerful and simple way to use 1Password for the vast majority of our users. Let us know if you have questions! :)
