Standalone licenses are sold in the 1Password 7 for Mac application (download required)

I see no way to view standalone license (upgrade?) pricing for 1P 7 for Mac? Am I missing something or does the user really have to download 1P 7 for Mac to see the price? There’s no mention of the price in either of these:
https://support.1password.com/upgrade-mac/
Pricing tab (what’s up with the trend of not having pricing on pricing pages?):

    I too am unclear as to upgrade pricing. I finally gave up searching and installed 7. Version 6 got uninstalled. Now I can't open my vault, and still I have no idea of cost.

    Hi folks.

    We don’t advertise standalone licenses, and as such you won’t see the price advertised anywhere (particularly our pricing page), but we did write a blog post about the launch of 1Password 7 that explains how pricing works:

    1Password 7 for Mac: The Best Ever - AgileBits Blog

    I hope that helps!

    I read the blog and still can't find upgrade pricing. Just full price.

    We don't have specific "upgrade pricing". Everyone pays the same price. We are currently offering a limited time discount during the initial launch period, but that is available for anyone who wishes it rather than only for people who had previously bought a license.

    I searched that link for "upgrade" and found 7 instances. All of them in the comments. None give a price other than new retail $64.99 with launch discount of $49.99.

    Simply put, is there a discounted upgrade price from standalone version 6 to standalone version 7?

    Thanks for the direct answer Corey_C.

    @Ben "We don’t advertise standalone licenses, and as such you won’t see the price advertised anywhere (particularly our pricing page),”
    Right, why would you want your users to easily find the price of your software, particularly on your PRICING page? If you wonder why you get so much, um, commentary on your pricing look no further. Obfuscated indeed.

    @BoxCar,

    Memberships are what we now advertise, and the pricing for those should be quite easy to find. We still offer standalone licenses for those that know they want them, but we’re not advertising them.

  • I am interested in a standalone license for version 7, how do I get access?

    Hi @dtheory

    Standalone license purchases are made in the 1Password 7 for Mac application:

    Download for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Chrome, Linux | 1Password

    From the welcome screen select the “need a license? We have those too” option (not the option to start a 1Password membership / trial).

    I hope that helps!

    Ben

  • Hi @Ben I just signed up with 1Password 7 for Mac but I accidentally signed up for the trial. I would like a license instead. How can I do that?

    @sharks552

    Did you migrate your data into the membership trial? If so please see this guide:

    http://support.1password.com/cs/migrate-standalone/

    If you haven’t — sign out of the membership in 1Password > Preferences > Accounts.

    I hope that helps!

    Ben

  • How can I tell if I have migrated my data or not?

    @sharks552: If you can access your data in your 1Password.com account (easy to check logging into the website), then you've already migrated it. :)

    From what I've learned by reading numerous forum posts, standalone licenses for 1Password 7 are no longer "advertised".
    I'm a happy day one standalone 1Password user running 1Password 6.8.9 from the Mac Appstore.
    How much does the standalone license for 1Password 7 cost? I'm not asking for anyone to "advertise" it, just let me know what it costs.
    I don't want to give up my perfectly working 1Password 6 just to find out the price for 1Password 7.

    @Hermann.B

    $50 USD if you buy now, $65 USD if you buy later. :)

    Thanks @Ben for these clear numbers. I was expecting some politically correct answer ;) without any actual information. How wrong I was!

    One more thing: in the MAS I see that I purchased 1Password on Sep/9/2011. But I can't find out anymore (easily) what I payed back then or if there were any upgrades to my purchase since then. But I doubt there were, as upgrades are not a feature of the MAS.

    Given, that 1Password is one of the best and most-used apps I've ever purchased, I'm happily going to spend the $50 now.

  • Hermann.BHermann.B Junior Member

    Actually I've one more question: Can I download 1Password from the MAS and enable a standalone license there or do I need to download it from your site?

    I try not to beat around the bush too much whenever possible. I wouldn’t have any record of what the pricing in the Mac App Store was at that time either, but if I had to guess I suspect it was probably either in the $40 - $60 USD ballpark. 1Password must be downloaded from us in order to use it standalone.

    I hope that helps!

  • Is the discount price still available?

  • brentybrenty

    As of this writing, yes.

  • Thanks for the info.

    Any time! :) :+1:

  • I was thinking of upgrading to 1Password 7 from version 6, but regarding that everyone pays the same and there´s no discount for older versions, I´m not thinking of upgrading anymore. Or am I wong ? Is the $49.99 launch price still available ? $64.99 for old customers is a steep price. Should I consider another developer app ?

  • BenBen AWS Team

    Should I consider another developer app ?

    Yes, absolutely you should. We want people to choose 1Password and to choose to continue with 1Password because they feel it is the best solution available for them. That's difficult to determine if you haven't looked at the competition.

    Is the $49.99 launch price still available ?

    As of writing, yes, it is. For how long -- I couldn't say.

    Ben
