Access rights for local password safe

Is it possible to manage/grant different access rights also for a local password safe when we are enrolled in the team plan?

  • Hi @jzimmermann79

It is possible for users to create “local” (standalone) vaults in the apps by enabling the 1Password > Preferences > Advanced > Allow creation of vaults outside 1Password accounts setting. These vaults are not part of your 1Password membership and do not sync via 1Password.com. They cannot be managed through the membership — only locally on each device.

Does that help? Please let me know.

The question is if you can grant access for a specific user to only some entries/passwords in a local vault. Or does it mean that you have to setup different vaults for each access group.

  • Neither. There is no way to customize access to local vaults. You’d need to use membership based vaults to do that. That is one of the primary advantages of membership is the ability to do such things.

When standalone vaults are enabled within a user account 1Password in that user account will unlock using the Master Password of the Primary vault, which is the first created standalone vault. Any subsequently created standalone vaults will also be unlocked when that Master Password is entered.
