Generating new password in existing item without toggling edit mode?

Hi,

For several months I have been having an issue where I try to add a password to an existing item but the password generator button is not initially available after I change the field type to "Password":

The only way I can get this to work is to put a 1-character password in the field so it doesn't disappear when I exit edit mode, then toggle back to view/edit and then the password generator button is available.

Is there a way to generate a new password in an existing item without this workaround?

Thanks.

    @nriley,

    This should be fixed in 7.2 already, can you give 7.2.BETA-2 a try?

    @rudy, unfortunately this is not fixed in 7.2.BETA-2 for me on 10.13.6.

    @nriley - don't add anything to the field label before changing the field type to Password. Just click the selector at the right first, that should allow you to see the password generator. Once you've generated the password you want, then go add a field label.

    @Lars thanks, this helps (even on 7.1.2) until this can be fixed for good!
