Every time I close the Chrome browser, the mini locks.
1Password 7.2.581 - Windows 10. I must enter my master password to use the mini every time I open the the Chrome browser even though the desktop app remains unlocked. 1Password did not work this way on my old computer (also Windows 10/Chrome). How can I avoid this?

Are you using 1Password X? If yes, that's due to the nature of the extension, it runs within Chrome.
The regular 1Password desktop extension does not have this limitation as it connects to the running 1Password desktop program to bring up its UI/data, there's no separation between the 1Password extension and 1Password program in this case, so the lock is the same.
If you don't want this, you'll have to uninstall 1Password X extension and install the regular one from here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/1password-extension-deskt/aomjjhallfgjeglblehebfpbcfeobpgk
