Suggestion Would be nice if Mail had an 1P button also.

I personally know from experience that ISP mail servers at different sites get overly busy or at times have their servers brought down for maintenance. When this happens, we get a window under Mail requesting the password for the particular mail server. What I think is happening is the at the SMPT and POP mail servers are going to an authorization server to check the passed password. If that server is too busy or down for maintenance, then the SMTP and POP server will pass a negative response to the password. That is the authorization server timeout causes Mail to get a reject on the password. Mail in turn asks for the Password of this mail account. This happens more often than it should with not only Hotmail, Gmail, Road Runner, Verizon, and Hawaiiantel accounts. When this happens, it would be nice to click on the 1P button in Mail to supply the password. Most of the time a correct response of the password will cause the mail to be sent or received. It is sort of a little hickup in the Mail processing from the servers.

    Welcome to the forums, williesmaui!

1Password only interacts with your web browsers for filling forms online. The Mac OS X keychain is the lingua franca for Mac developers to have their applications store sensitive data such as usernames and passwords. We don't want to replace this functionality. We want 1Password to be the lingua franca for how users interact with forms on the internet. You can store a record of your applications' usernames and passwords in 1Password, but you would need to copy and paste the passwords manually.

This applies to cases like yours with Mail. Most applications have no way for us to even consider adding a 1P button or menu option and when they do, it's in some proprietary (and usually unsupported) way. We don't have the resources to try and keep up with that ever-changing arena.
