Why would my 1Password mini-app need to connect to the internet? I use the standalone version of 1Password for Mac. I am a bit paranoid because I needed to have a company repair my MacBook Pro - and for the first time leave it in someone else's hand overnight.

    If you have enabled sync via iCloud, that would be the reason. 1Password mini is part of 1Password for Mac ;)
