Does Emergency Kit override two-factor authentication? [No; TOTP secret required in addition to EK]

I've just set up two-factor authentication, with Authy (which backs up to the cloud).

But if for whatever reason I wasn't able to recover that backup, will Emergency Kit override two-factor authentication, and allow me to get in even without a OTP?

    Hi @mickbk

The Emergency Kit does not override two-factor authentication. You would need your TOTP secret in addition to your Emergency Kit information in order to access your data from a device that isn't currently authorized to your account.

Hmm okay. So if I lost my 2FA device, I would have to be sure that I could get access to an already-authorized device in order to disable 2FA, correct?

    Correct. :)

Alternatively, you can disable TOTP now, re-enable it, and print the resulting QR code and attach it to your Emergency Kit. That way if you run into this situation you can just scan the QR code again to set up another device to generate TOTP codes.
