1Password requires master password and access key, why does 1Password recommends to have 2FA via authenticator app?
Is the account not secure with the password and access key?

  • Hi @harish_ravikumar

I'm not sure I'd say that we 'recommend' it. We offer it, for those who have asked for it. The value that 2FA provides for accessing 1Password is less than it is for traditional web services. You can read a bit about why this is, here:

1Password is LayerUp-ed with modern authentication

We do things a bit differently than most, and so 2FA is more optional than it might be for other services. I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

@Ben Many thanks for your feedback. Understood why the 2FA is in place.

  • You're most welcome. If there is anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to contact us.
