I am using the following version on Mac OS:

1Password 7
Version 7.3.2 (70302004)
1Password Store

I am running mac OS Mojave 10.14.5 (18F132).

Steps:
1. Have 1Password open
2. Hit Cmd+W to close the app

Expected:

  • 1Password continues running in the background
  • 1Password is visible in the icon tray (top right bar on screen)
  • 1Password is no longer in my Cmd+Tab menu
  • I can continue to use 1Password as I browse the web

Actual:

  • The opposite of all the above

How can I get 1Password to stay open in the background without taking up space in the app switcher? i.e. in the same way that Dropbox, Evernote, etc, stay open and running in the background.

Gaurav

Hi @gauravvohra! Welcome to the forum!

If I type Cmd+W when 1Password is open, I get all of the things you mentioned in your expected behavior:

    • 1Password continues running in the background
    • 1Password is visible in the icon tray (top right bar on screen)
    • 1Password is no longer in my Cmd+Tab menu
    • I can continue to use 1Password as I browse the web

Can you please start by opening 1Password Preferences > General and making sure that Show 1Password in the menu bar is enabled?

    @gauravvohra,

    The two important settings are:

    • Preferences -> General -> Show 1Password in the menu bar
    • Preferences -> Browsers -> Always keep 1Password ExtensionHelper running
