Remember old master password, not new one

I am able to log in to my browser extension with my old master password but I forgot my new one. I unfortunately didn't write it down anywhere. Is there any way to reset my master with my old master password?

Welcome to the forum, @apresley! I'm sorry for the trouble. If you have a 1password.com membership/account, are you able to sign into it in a browser at https://my.1password.com ?

In general, if you forget your Master Password, whatever data was in those vaults will be unrecoverable, but let's start with seeing if you can sign in via a browser.

    Hi @apresley,
Try out that article that explains what you can do in your case: https://support.1password.com/forgot-master-password/
As I understand if you forget your Master Password, it is not possible to recover it.

I think the reason you are able to enter 1Password with the old password is because you, probably, have several vaults that need to updated separately: https://support.1password.com/change-master-password/

    Good luck!

Indeed, 1Password unlock only using the Master Password of the first vault/account you setup in the app; so if you've got things setup differently on different devices, that can cause some confusion. However, there is no harm in trying different passwords you've used. You just won't be successful in unlocking 1Password unless you use the correct one, based on how you'd set it up previously.
