Switch to family on itunes account?

I want to switch to a family plan to get my parents organized with their passwords finally. I have a subscription through itunes and am following the documentation directions but can't find the share button in order to switch my membership. Do I need to switch my account off of Itunes in order to switch to a family plan? Whats the best way to go about that?
