How can I save a password needed for access to a file?

Various programs permit creation of a password for access to a file. Is there a way to save such a password so that 1Password works similarly to how it fills in user names/passwords for websites?

@yoyobeep - 1Password doesn't currently have the ability interact with (fill in login/password data to) apps other than your browser, except in iOS or Android. On desktop versions (1Password for Mac and 1Password for Windows), however, you can still generate a password either in the main 1Password app or in the mini, give it a name (and even notes) regarding its usage, and save it in the Passwords section. What platform and version of 1Password are you using?

Thx for reply. Running 1Password 7 on MacBook (Catalina) and also Windows version (on virtual machine via Parallels).

  • Gotcha. Thanks @yoyobeep. We don't have a way to fill credentials into Mac or Windows apps at this time. That said, 1Password 7 for Mac does support dragging and dropping from 1Password into Mac apps.
