Data incompatible with this version - error opw-dp-711

Options

One of our staff members tried to use the 1Password app and it suddenly produced a popup saying that the data was incompatible with this version. It quotes error opw-dp-711.

The user is unable to uninstall 1Password from her machine. She authorizes windows to make changes to the app and it just returns to the app list still showing 1Password and the popups keep appearing. The 1Password app has not been updated and was working until today.

    Just to add to this, the staff member is able to sign in to the 1password.com website and can use that.

    Hi @markdavidhorrocks! Welcome to the forum!

    What version of the 1Password app is this happening with, and on what operating system?

    Hi, the OS is Windows 10. I am unable to determine which version of 1Password is installed because it won't open. The app was installed within the last month and was the latest version at the time. I can only gain access to the computer using remote support and the connection is slow.

    Good morning @markdavidhorrocks. Your 1Password database updated to a newer version, probably as a result of 1Password for Windows getting a upgrade to 7.4 the other day. For some reason, it sounds like you're running 7.3 (not 7.4) and that is why you are seeing this error. Can you please download and install 1Password 7.4 here and see if that makes the error go away? Thanks!

    Install new version worked. Inability to uninstall the old version was a worrying.

    @markdavidhorrocks, that's great to hear.

    We back up your database before updating to 7.4 which will migrate it to a newer database version, so you'd be able to go back always but you'd have to manually move some files around to be able to do that.

    The error you had said the database was created in 7.4 version (beta if it was a month ago). 1Password 7.3 cannot read 1Password 7.4 database because it is slightly different, so we present that error instead of silently crashing.
