1Password cannot update in Win10 because 1Password folder is not accessible

Options

When 1Password tries to update itself on my Windows 10 machine, I eventually get an error dialog stating that my 1Password folder is readonly or cannot be accessed. I've checked the 1Password folder in my APPDATA folder and it's not readonly and I have Full Control access granted on it, so I've no idea why 1Password is reporting that error.

I've used the cmd-line attrib command to check the attributes and the Security tab of the folder's properties dialog to check my access rights.

Any idea why I'm getting this error?

    Hi @daneel,

    Thank you for reporting this!

Are you running any kind of AV/anti-malware software on your PC? If you do use such software, please try to do the following:

    1) Install all available updates for Windows OS, if they are pending.

    2) Install all available updates for your AV software.

    3) Reboot your PC.

Check if the issue with 1Password update remains after that. Thank you!

Hi, it seems to have resolved itself since a restart - thanks for your help.

  • On Greg's behalf, you are most welcome, @daneel! I'm glad it seems to have sorted itself out. :chuffed:
