Cannot save/apply 1Password fill to 401 password requests

websites that require authentication with the popup window (I think it is called 401 authentication) do not give me the ability to save/capture password information in 1Password. I am unable to use right-click either. This is annoying.

A few versions back, I remember being able to do this with either right-click or a "1P" icon attached to the popup window, but that icon is now gone for a while now. I meant to ask about it, but figured someone else did already.

This has to do with all the re tooling for Lion etc and also the separation of the browser plugin and the app.

I also hope it returns soon

HTTP authentication prompts are not currently available in the extension APIs of any browser for which 1Password is available.

Chrome is the only browser making "visible" progress on this:

Hopefully Safari and Firefox will also decide to play nice.

Safari can store the credentials in the OS X keychain to make copying and pasting a moot point, but the APIs are still not available in any of the browsers just yet.

We don't normally announce products, features, or fixes until they are actually available in the current version of 1Password, so the best way to stay on top of this issue is to keep an eye on our blog, Twitter, and Facebook.
